Planning and Presenting Maths Professional Learning
MASA is offering a workshop series during Term 4 for new and aspiring leaders and anyone passionate about sharing ideas with colleagues. The facilitator, Maryanne Rischmueller, is an experienced AST 2 teacher, workshop presenter and public speaker. This workshop will help you build your confidence and credibility as a presenter as you develop and practise your communication skills in a supportive environment. 5 ½ hours professional learning includes 1-hour preparation time for your brief presentation in the final session. Linked to Professional Standards for Teachers 6 and 7 and Advanced Skills Teacher 2.
Session 1: Wednesday 28th October 4:30 – 5:30 pm
Public Speaking skills – posture, movement, voice, pauses, filler words, connecting with audience, dealing with nerves, body gestures, using slides and white boards
Session 2: Wednesday 11th November 4:30 – 5:30 pm
The what, why and how of planning an effective PL session. Getting attention,
disrupting thinking, timing, using varying learning modes, opening, closing
Session 3: Saturday 21st November 9:30 - 12 pm
- includes morning tea
Attendees will present a brief, planned presentation (10 mins approximately), evaluating each other, and giving constructive feedback.
