Operating with numbers (F-3)

Saturday 2 March 2019 9am-12 noon, morning tea provided

This workshop will explore ways that we can:

• engage our young children in additive and multiplicative thinking
• develop a deep understanding of the meaning and use of the four basic operations.

The Australian Curriculum Mathematics will be referenced as we explore and engage in learning experiences focussed on building the connection between dramatic, physical, diagrammatic and verbal forms of problems and the symbolic representations of them.

This workshop is designed for teachers of early years students (F-3).

Please note: a focus will be given to additive thinking and problem solving based on addition and subtraction. Depending on demand, a second session focussing on multiplicative thinking may be offered later in the year.
